Welcome to Our Workshop
We believe that engineering is not just about theory — it’s about doing, building, and bringing ideas to life. That’s why our workshop is the beating heart of hands-on learning, experimentation, and innovation. Our workshop is one of the most dynamic, hands-on learning spaces where theory meets practice and ideas take shapes. It serves as a bridge between classroom theory and real-world engineering practice, giving students the opportunity to work with tools, machines, and processes that define modern manufacturing. Whether it is basic training, project fabrication, or research prototyping, the workshop plays a crucial role in shaping competent, confident engineers.
We Offer Well-Equipped: Shop Floors, Tools & Modern Machines
Engineering Workshop infrastructure supports students from all engineering branches. It is organized into well-defined sections, each equipped with modern tools for specific skill development.
Conventional Machine Shop
Students learn foundational machining through: Centre lathes, Drilling and tapping machines, Shaping and grinding units. These machines help students understand metal cutting, tolerances, fits, and industrial machining practices.
Fabrication and Welding Section
This section includes: Arc welding, Gas welding, Spot welding, Sheet-metal tools, Bending and cutting machines. Students build frames, brackets, test rigs, and project components while learning the essentials of metal joining and fabrication.
Carpentry & Woodworking Section
Woodworking benches, power saws, planers, and carpentry tools help first-year students grasp fundamental workshop skills such as measuring, filing, cutting, and fitting.
Modern Manufacturing & Prototyping
To align with current industrial trends, the workshop includes: CNC turning, CNC/VMC milling, Laser or plasma cutting, 3D printing for rapid prototyping. This empowers students to fabricate precision parts, develop early prototypes, and create research models with tight tolerances.This combination ensures students get exposure both to traditional hands-on craftsmanship and modern digital manufacturing techniques, preparing them for diverse engineering challenges.
Learnings & Skill Development at our Workshop
Hands-On Skills
Engineering concepts become truly meaningful when students make, modify, and test components themselves. The workshop helps students experience manufacturing first-hand—how materials behave, how machines respond, and how accuracy is achieved.
Industry-Style Learning
Working with both traditional and advanced machines introduces students to real industrial workflows. They learn about safety protocols, machine calibration, process planning, and quality control—skills that are directly valued in the manufacturing sector.
Problem-Solving and Innovation
Many ideas fail at the design–manufacture stage. The workshop is a place for trial, error, and learning. Students can cut, weld, drill, assemble, rework, and refine components until their prototypes function properly. This cultivates creativity, resilience, and engineering confidence.
Academic and Research Support
The workshop is used extensively by:
- First-year students for basic training
- Final-year students for project fabrication
- Postgraduate and research scholars for experimental setups
Because of the wide range of machines, everything from simple fixtures to complex research assemblies can be built in-house.
Safety and Professional Conduct
A safe workshop environment is essential. We follow strict protocols to ensure safe and disciplined operations:
- Mandatory use of PPE such as goggles, boots, and protective clothing
- No loose garments, jewellery, or untied hair near machines
- Students operate machines only after proper training
- Supervised access to CNC machines, welders, and power tools
- Regular inspection and maintenance of all equipment
- Clean, organized, and well-ventilated workspaces
