K K Wagh Instititute of Engineering Education and Research, Nashik offers admission to the direct Second Year of Engineering under the Direct Second Year (DSE) scheme. The admission The State Common Entrance Test Cell (CET), Maharashtra, Government of Maharashtra, conducts the admission process through the Centralized Admission Process (CAP).

Overview of Direct Second Year Admission

A student who completed his Diploma in Engineering offered by MSBTE or equivalent or a B.Sc. degree are eligible for admission in direct second year. Generally, seats equivalent to 10% of sanction intake. As students already possess foundational technical knowledge, they are permitted to enter directly into the second year of the degree course.

Eligibility Criteria

  • For Diploma Candidates

    Candidates must have completed a Diploma in Engineering or Technology from a recognized institution (MSBTE or equivalent) and must secured a minimum of 45% aggregate marks for general category and 40% for candidates for reserved categories of Maharashtra State. The Diploma qualification must be recognized and approved as per regulatory norms.

  • For B.Sc. Candidates

    Candidates must have passed a B.Sc. degree (mathematics compulsory) with at least 45% aggregate marks and 40% for reserved category candidates of Maharashtra State.

Detailed Admission Process

Step 1: Online Registration

The CET cell declares the notification for registration. Candidates seeking admission to DSE must begin by registering on the official CET Cell portal within the specified timeline.

During registration, the candidates have to fill personal, academic, and communication details. It must be filled carefully. Candidates must select the appropriate candidature type. The candidate has to review the application thoroughly before submission. The prescribed application fee must be paid online through the available payment modes. It should be noted that without payment and confirmation, your application will not be considered. Candidate is advised to be ready with all required documents with given size and format (.jpg or .pdf)

Step 2: Uploading and Verification of Documents

After registration, candidates must upload scanned copies of the required documents.

Document verification is conducted through two modes:

  • E-Scrutiny Mode (Online Verification): Documents are verified digitally by the assigned scrutiny center.
  • Physical Scrutiny Mode (if required): Candidates may be asked to visit a designated center for in-person verification. The candidates are advised to choose physical scrutiny to avoid any trouble in future. Note that only after successful verification, the candidate’s application will be considered valid for merit list preparation. This step is very important

Step 3: Publication of Merit List

Once verification is completed, the CET cell Mumbai, publishes a provisional merit list on the official portal. The Candidates must check their name, merit rank, category, and other details carefully. If any discrepancy is found, candidates may submit grievances within the stipulated time. The K K Wagh Institute of Engineering Education and Research, Nashik will provide support to resolve any grievances with the help of the CET, Cell. After resolving all grievances, the final merit list is declared. This merit list forms the basis for seat allotment in CAP rounds.

Step 4: Option Form Filling (College and Branch Selection)

This is one of the most important stages of the admission process.

Candidates must select preferred colleges and engineering branches. Note that from last three years, the DTE has changed norms. According to new norms, the candidate can opt any branch for degree course irrespective of specialization at Diploma level, As the seats are limited for DSE, candidate must fill maximum possible options (minimum 50+ according to his/her merit) to increase the chances of allotment. Don’t forget to lock the option form before the deadline. Seat allotment depends on merit rank, reservation category, seat availability, and the order of preferences filled by the candidate.

Step 5: CAP Rounds and Seat Allotment

The State CET Cell conducts multiple CAP rounds (usually two to three).

During each round seats are allotted based on merit and preferences. Candidates can either accept the allotted seat or participate in subsequent rounds for upgradation (as per rules). The Allotment status must be checked regularly on the official portal. It is essential to respond within the given timeframe to avoid cancellation of the allotted seat. The candidate has to take the admission by confirming the seat or he/she can chose betterment option for next round. If the seat is auto freeze, then candidate have to report the institute in that round only.

Step 6: Reporting to the Allotted Institute

After seat allotment, candidates must report to the allotted institute (if not interested in next rounds) within the prescribed schedule. All original documents must be produced for final verification. Admission fees (as applicable) must be paid as per institute norms. Failure to report within the given timeline may result in cancellation of allotted seat and candidate can not apply for next round.

  • Diploma or B.Sc. mark sheets (all semesters)
  • School Leaving Certificate
  • Domicile Certificate
  • Caste Certificate (if applicable)
  • Caste Validity Certificate
  • Non-Creamy Layer Certificate (if applicable)
  • Economical Weaker Section certificate as per state government format (if applicable)
  • Aadhaar Card
  • Recent passport-size photographs
  • Additional documents may be required as per government notifications.

Reservation Policy

Seat reservation is implemented as per Government of Maharashtra regulations. Reservation benefits are applicable to eligible Maharashtra State candidates under the prescribed categories and subject to submission of valid supporting documents.
