NEP and Autonomy Implementation at KKWIEER

K.K.Wagh Institute of Engineering Education and Research, Nasik has become an Autonomous Institute w.e.f. Academic Year 2022-23. Autonomy provides flexibility and transparency as well as a sense of accountability and responsibility. The outcome-based, industry-oriented curriculum complemented with 21st Century skills and exposure to subjects of liberal arts will be focused to nurture “Technically Sound, Industrially Competent and Emotionally Intelligent” engineers.

Being an Autonomous Institute, the institute was privileged to implement the National Education Policy-2020 from Academic Year 2023-24 and following initiatives are taken:

NEP Initiatives

  • National Credit Framework: Comprehensive Credit Framework of Learning in various dimensions has been finalized with the Course Structure of UG (172 Credits) and PG (M.Tech. - 80, MCA / MBA - 88) as recommended by NEP. Under this framework, many Generic and Open Electives, Ability Enhancement Courses, Vocational and Skill Enhancement Courses, Liberal Learning Courses and Indian Knowledge System are included in curriculum along with core courses.
  • Flexibility to Learners: Flexibility to Learners is provided by offering the three different nomenclatures of U.G. degrees namely, B.Tech with Multidisciplinary Minor (MdM), B.Tech. (Hon.) with Multidisciplinary Minor (MdM) and B.Tech. Major with Double Minors (Multidisciplinary Minor and Specialization Minors).
  • Internationalization of Higher Education: Internationalization of Higher Education is being achieved at the Institute through 100+ MoUs with International and National Industries and Universities of USA, Poland and South Korea. The students are offered with International Internships.
  • Academic Bank of Credits (ABC): Academic Bank of Credits (ABC), Multiple Entry Multiple Exit (MEME), Multidisciplinary Projects, Digital Empowerment of Students and Faculty are the significant aspects in NEP which are initiated in the Institute.

Since conferment of Autonomy, the Institute has achieved many Academic and Administrative reforms.
