K.K. Wagh Institute Achieves Victories at Smart India Hackathon 2025

The Smart India Hackathon (SIH)—the world’s largest open innovation platform—embodies the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to empower youth and foster innovation and self-reliance across the nation. SIH 2025 witnessed overwhelming participation, with numerous problem statements addressed by teams from higher education institutions (HEIs) across India, in collaboration with ministries, industries, public sector undertakings (PSUs), and state departments.

In this national celebration of innovation, K.K. Wagh Institute of Engineering Education and Research achieved another remarkable milestone. Six teams from the institute emerged as winners at the SIH 2025 Grand Finale, competing across diverse problem statements. Their dedication, technical excellence, and innovative approach led to a clean sweep of six prestigious prizes, bringing laurels to the institute.

This achievement further strengthens the institute’s legacy of excellence in innovation and problem-solving. With two prizes in SIH 2022, one prize in SIH 2023, three prizes in SIH 2024, and six prizes in SIH 2025, the institute proudly continues its consistent streak of success at the nation’s premier innovation competition.

Team CoRe represented institute at the Smart India Hackathon (SIH 2023) held at St. Joseph College of Engineering, Chennai during the finalist round from 18th to 20th December 2023.

Team AGARTAS from Dept.of AIDS & Computer Engg., KWIEER Secured 1st Prize in Smart India Hackathon-23 Hardware Category held at Chennai with cash prize Rs. 1 Lakh from 19th to 23rd December 2023.

The team PARAM of third year and last year computer Engg. Students SANJITA JAIN (TE Comp.) , PUSHKAR NIKUMB (BE Comp.), SANKET SHIRSATH (BE Comp.), SAMYAK LAHIRE (TE Comp.) won 2nd Prize of Rs 52,000/- and certificates at CertiTech Competition Conducted by at IIT Bombay during Techfest from 27th to 29th December 23. Team provided the solution and model to Marsh McLenna, A global Insurance Company using Blockchain Technology.

Team Catalyst of final year computer students won 2nd prize of Rs. 1 Lakh in the “InnovateYou” a National level hackathon conducted by AISSMS PUNE. 190+ teams participated in the Hackathon.

Project title "EVIDENCE SHEILD: Blockchain and IPFS-Based Evidence Protection System for Safeguarding Women's Rights" done by final year students Shivani Dangal, Avinash Jadhav, Shruti Kadhbhane, Prajkta Patil under the guidance of Prof.Chaitali Patil from Department of Computer Engineering received Second prize at the Dipex 24 , State Level Project competition, Organised by ABVP & Srijan Foundation for Maharashtra & Goa Region.

Students of final year Computer Engineering Rucha Chaudhary and Om Patil secured First Prize under the guidance of Prof. Priya Rakibe in the National level project competition organized by Mukesh Patel School of Technology Management and Engineering(MPSTME-NMIMS),Mumbai with Trophy, certificate, gift hamper worth 3k and Prize money of 15k .

Student and Faculty team Rimzim Chark(TE Comp), Sakshi Pawar(BE Comp),Jai Shah(BE Chem), Parimal Thakre(BE Comp), Jayesh Gawali(BE Comp), Prof. Priya Rakibe received Best Paper Award in the International Conference on Gender quality & Women Empowerment organized by Department of Electronics & Telecommunication, PVG Pune, in association with Department of Education & Extension Savitribai Phule Pune University and Rajasthan Sociological Association Paper entitled Comprehensive Technical Approach for Women Empowerment and Safety in the Digital Landscape. Students and faculties from PAN-India participated in the competition as it was open for all.

Congratulations to team Pyyoneers (ID SHW 12) comprising of team members Oceania Kshetrimayum (Computer Engineering), Harshal Patil (AI&DS), Kshitij Rathore and Vikas Sangale (IT) have participated in Sunhacks 2024 an International level Hackathon, and they have won a Consolation prize in the overall 4 domain on the competition, they were in the top 3 teams in their respective domain of Web development. Their Project titled Skill Swift is a website to filter out resumes with the help of AI ML models. The team was guided by Prof. Shweta Jadhav and Prof. Priya Rakibe.
