K. K. Wagh Institute of Engineering Education and Research, in association with the ISTE Chapter, celebrated Teachers’ Day with great enthusiasm. The program was organized to mark the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, former President of India and a great teacher.
The program was graced by Dr. Ramesh Bhat, former Vice Chancellor of Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) University, as the Chief Guest. Dr. Bhat is a renowned academician with more than 40 years of experience in the field of education. He has served as a visiting professor at several reputed national and international institutions. He has also served on the boards of reputed organizations such as Corporation Bank, BEML, ITI Limited, and the National Small Industries Corporation. Currently, he is associated with Basic Healthcare, an NGO working to improve healthcare facilities in rural areas.
Institute Director Dr. K. N. Nandurkar felicitated the Chief Guest. In his address, he highlighted the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education and emphasized that while AI may transform teaching and learning, it cannot replace the true purpose of education to develop individuals who can think, innovate, contribute, and bring positive change to society.
Dr. Bhat spoke about the eight important areas that influence effective teaching and learning. He highlighted the importance of understanding students’ prior knowledge, organizing knowledge effectively, building motivation and curiosity, encouraging continuous effort and self-learning, and creating a positive and inclusive learning environment. He emphasized that these factors help students achieve success not only academically but also in various areas of life.
The occasion also witnessed the felicitation of faculty members completing 10, 20, and 30 years of service with certificates and mementoes. Senior faculty members and nonteaching staff members were honoured for their valuable contributions. The program was also attended by the institution’s Advisor, Dr. Shantam Shukla.
The program was compered by Dr. Ruchita Gaidhani and Prof. Samruddhi Patil. The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. P. J. Pawar, who expressed sincere gratitude to the Chief Guest, Hon. Sameer Wagh, President of K. K. Wagh Education Society, Prof. K. S. Bandi, Secretary, the trustees, faculty members, students, and all the dignitaries present. The program was nicely coordinated by Dr. S. D. Barahate and Prof. Smita Shinde.
