Engineers' Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at K. K. Wagh Institute of Engineering Education and Research in collaboration with the ISTE Chapter. Engineers' Day is celebrated every year on September 15 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya.
Er. Manish Mahendra Kothari, President, The Institution of Engineers (India) (IEI), was the Chief Guest for the programme. With more than 35 years of experience in the engineering and industrial sectors, Er. Kothari is a renowned engineer, entrepreneur, and institutional leader. He has served on several important committees of the Institution at the national level. He has served as the Past Chairman of NIMA and is a Director of the Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture, where he works towards strengthening collaboration among industry, educational institutions, and government. Combining engineering expertise with an entrepreneurial approach, he has made significant contributions to industry, infrastructure, and institutional development.
At the beginning of the programme, Institute Director Dr. K. N. Nandurkar felicitated the Chief Guest. Er. Kothari briefed the faculty and students about various schemes and initiatives undertaken by The Institution of Engineers (India) (IEI) for their benefit. He encouraged faculty members and students to actively participate in these initiatives and make maximum use of the available opportunities and schemes. Interacting with the students, he highlighted the importance of emerging technologies, innovation, research, and industry-oriented skills in the changing engineering landscape. He encouraged students to develop problem-solving abilities, creativity, and an entrepreneurial mindset along with strong technical knowledge.
On the occasion, faculty members who had published research papers in reputed and prestigious journals were felicitated by the Chief Guest in recognition of their valuable contribution to research. The annual institute magazine, 'Horizon', was also formally released by the Chief Guest during the programme.
The programme was anchored by Prof. Swati Pawar, Prof. Sheetal Wani, and Prof. Samruddhi Patil. Dr. S. D. Barahate and Prof. Smita Shinde coordinated the overall programme. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Prof. Vilas Patil, who expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, Hon. Sameer Wagh, President of K. K. Wagh Education Society, Prof. K. S. Bandi, Secretary, the Trustees, and all the organisers for their support and contribution towards the successful conduct of the programme.
