Chemical Engineering

HOD's Message,

The Department of Chemical Engineering was established in 1999 with an intake capacity of 60 students. The department has been accredited four times by the NBA, AICTE, in recognition of its consistent academic excellence and quality education.

The department has a dynamic team of qualified faculty members and experienced supporting staff with strong research interests in both conventional and emerging areas of Chemical Engineering. Continuous learning and professional growth are core values of our department. Faculty members are deputed for postgraduate and doctoral studies, research programs, and faculty development initiatives to ensure they remain updated with the latest advancements in the field. At present, the department has six Ph.D. qualified faculty members, two pursuing Ph.D., and four M.Tech qualified faculty members. Faculty have completed their Ph.D from prestigious institutes such as IITs, NITs, and ICT, Mumbai. Faculty members are actively involved in research; they have published papers in reputed SCI and Scopus-indexed journals and also serve as reviewers for renowned journals.

The department houses seven state-of-the-art laboratories equipped with instruments worth Rs. 1.16 crore. It also has an adequate number of computers with the latest configurations and internet facilities. The department provides excellent computational support with access to professional software such as UNISIM, BricksCAD, ANSYS Fluent, Aspen, and MATLAB for both teaching and research purposes.

In addition, the department maintains its own library with a good collection of books, magazines, and journals. Students are encouraged to participate in national-level events such as conferences, project exhibitions, model-making competitions, and sports events, where many have won prizes and brought laurels to the department. Our students have consistently achieved excellent academic results, securing top ranks in university examinations and qualifying for competitive exams like GATE, GRE, and others.

Graduates from the department are successfully placed in leading chemical and allied industries, playing key roles in their organizations. To foster leadership and professional growth among students, the department has established a student association named ACES (Association of Chemical Engineering Students). ACES organizes seminars, workshops, cultural programs, and expert lectures on topics related to Chemical Engineering subjects, as well as on personality development, preparation for competitive examinations, and opportunities for higher education abroad. It serves as a strong platform for the overall development of students. A highlight of the department is its annual national-level technical event “CHEMFEST,” organized every year. This event provides an excellent platform for students to showcase their innovative ideas, projects, and models in Chemical Engineering.

The department maintains strong industry–institute interaction and has signed several MoUs with reputed industries for mutual collaboration. Industrial experts are invited regularly, and industrial visits are organized every year to bridge the gap between theory and practical application. The department also conducts Faculty Development Programs (FDP) and workshops to promote academic and industrial exposure. We, at the Department of Chemical Engineering, are committed to nurturing technically competent, ethically responsible, and industry-ready engineers who can contribute effectively to society and the nation.
